After the drama, Italy wins the day at Challenge Bernadotte
The first part of the final was dominated by Poland, despite having to substitute one fencer due to injury. After 7 of the 9 matches, Poland was in the lead by 33-30. At that time, Italy makes a substitution and puts in Paolo Pizzo, a highly accomplished and intensive fencer who could get Italy back in the match and even the score to 39-39. After the 9th and final match, the score was still tied; 41-41. In overtime, the very experienced Alfredo Rota could land the final touch and win the competition for Italy.
